The actual cause of Bleeding Canker in Horse Chestnut trees, the bacteria Pseudomonas Syringae, has only recently been discovered. The opinion that this is the causal agent is upheld by the Botanic Diseases Department of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality as well as the Task Force Aesculaap, based in The Netherlands.
No where in the world, until now, has a substance been available that can effectively help trees overcome this disease. Conventional treatment methods such as spraying or root injection or removal of bleeding wounds have been found to be ineffective and even contra-indicated, resulting in more damage to the tree, as a result. Now, there is a new substance, NOPEX BK™ , and an injection method available to bring a real breakthrough in the fight against Bleeding Canker in Horse Chestnut trees.

The substance Allicin has been known since ancient times but until four years ago it was always regarded as unstable. Available then in very low concentrations (less than 1 ppm.) it had no effect in combating bacterial infection.
Allicin-treecare of The Netherlands and Allicin International Ltd of the UK developed stabilised Allicin which can now be supplied in high concentrations in excess of 5000 ppm. The scientific name of the product is Dialylthiosulfinate (DTS). This patented product is produced without chemical solvents and has no damaging effect on the tree during use.
The product has been tested in-vitro by the internationally highly respected organisation TNO, Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, The Netherlands (click here to view text). The test results prove that, when using the correct concentration, the bacteria is effectively destroyed. Further tests by the Botanic Diseases Department of the Dutch Ministry for Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality in Wageningen, The Netherlands, show the same results (click here to view graphs).
Allicin is made from natural plant material. It is produced without the use of chemicals, is completely biodegradable and is safe for humans and the environment. Production is carried out under BS and ISO standards 9001:2000, registration number: GB12977. Allicin is produced using garlic grown according to European GAP (Good Agricultural Practice) standards and contains no GMO’s (genetically modified organisms).

In addition to the bactericidal effect, Allicin also has strong fungicidal qualities. After infection with Pseudomonas Syringae, fungal infestation develops. The resistance of the tree to invaders further diminishes and fungi can develop in the bark. The fungi roots, mycelia, found within the tree are also killed by Allicin (click here to view test document).
A tree of great beauty has a very positive effect on the landscape and its surroundings. It has also taken many years to grow. Justifiably, people wish to keep trees whenever possible. The cost of treatment using NOPEX BK™ (Allicin Liquid) is cost effective when compared to the high cost of tree removal.
We will be delighted to work with you to aid preservation of the Horse Chestnut Tree for town and country landscapes now and in the future.
